Historical Sources Used
- Bonner, T.D., The Life and Adventures of James P. Beckwourth
- University of Nebraska Press, Lincoln, 1972. Introduction, notes, and epilogue by
Delmont R. Oswald. An excellent reprint of Beckwourth's autobiography, complete
with original illustrations. Excellent page by page notes shed a great deal of
light on what's true, what's not and what's maybe.
- Wilson, Elinor, Jim Beckwourth
- University of Oklahoma Press, Norman, 1972. Excellent volume by one of the leading
Beckwourth authorities. Fills in a lot of gaps and attempts to resolve some of the
controversy that surrounded Beckwourth.
